About the Position:
The Manager, Fire School Campus Operations reports to the Associate Dean, Fire School. The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Fire School Campus (including the Industrial Training Centre) which includes the safe and judicious use of physical resources, compliance with Health & Safety requirements, and overall management of technical, academic and administrative staff within the department. 

This is a full-time Administrative Staff position with remuneration in the Administrative Band 10 salary range of $74,503 to $93,128.
Specific Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for the financial viability of all fire programs, including Post-Secondary and Industrial Fire as well as other Corporate Training activities taking place at the Fire School Campus;
  • Maintains healthy business relationships with a breadth of employers in the private and public sectors for the purpose of ensuring a viable marketplace for the provision of a wide range of market-based fee-for-service learning and training solutions inclusive of the College’s Industrial Fire education services;
  • Responsible for the health and safety of students, clients, employees and visitors and the safe operation of training props and the safe delivery of training;
  • Liaises with Faculty and Adjunct Faculty to achieve teaching objectives and ensure student and client satisfaction;
  • Actively promotes and sells Industrial Fire Training under the Corporate Training umbrella;
  • Leads the development of proposals and contracts tailored to the individual learning and training needs of the respective client, maximizing the financial contribution to the College;
  • Leads the development of the annual operating plan for the Fire School Campus and the financial budgets for cost centres under his/her direction;
  • Provides day-to-day site management of the Fire School Campus including the coordination of operational readiness of the technical infrastructure for the delivery of fire science educational programming, including lab equipment, field props, supporting infrastructure, and vehicles;
  • Responsible for the development, requirements and implementation of all instructional Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs) and orientation of faculty, staff and students/clients;
  • Promotes community partnerships, micro-credentials, mobile learning and experiential learning by forming linkages/networks; develops/establishes partnership arrangements through advisory committees, agreements and projects;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate will possess a four-year degree in business-related studies with a focus on management of human resources and operations;
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a fire/industry related field is required;
  • Experience in business and partnership development with industry with a successful track record of sourcing and securing contracts and projects;
  • You will have proven experience managing human, fiscal and physical resources; preferably in a unionized environment;
  • Experience in / knowledge of industrial and municipal fire;
  • You possess a diverse background in various trades, fields and/or industries;
  • Demonstrated strong project development and project management/execution abilities (particularly in the area of corporate training and fire/industrial fire training)
  • You are a persuasive, convincing negotiator with strong business acumen and an acute appreciation for and focus on customer service;
  • You possess a solid understanding of business best practices, budget development and management, training development, and relationship building; 
  • You are a strategic, yet entrepreneurial thinker and planner;
  • Your accomplishments demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills;
