Reports to: Director of Works and Engineering
 
Responsible for: the safe, efficient and cost-effective management of the Water Treatment and Distribution subsystems and shall act as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) in accordance with the Ministry of Environment guidelines for the Municipality of Port Hope drinking water systems. Responsibilities include oversight, coordination, business planning and execution of the Water Treatment and Distribution services; regulatory compliance, reporting, inspections, management of the operations and human resources associated with the water treatment and distribution subsystems for the Municipality of Port Hope.
 
Supervises: Water Operations Foreman and indirectly supervises the Water Operators and contracted Service providers.
 
Qualifications:
  • High school Diploma plus post-secondary education as a Certified Engineering or Environmental Technician / Technologist (C.E.T.) required; Water Quality Analyst would be an asset.
  • Valid Water Treatment System Certificate of Competence Class 2 is required and valid Water Distribution System Certificate of Competence Class 3 is required. Water Treatment System Certificate of Competence Class 3 would be considered an asset.
  • Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection System License Class I or above would be an asset.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in supervisory control of a drinking water environment.
  • Progressive supervisory skills required, preferably in a Unionized environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Budgeting and organizational skills.

Salary Range:
$88,108.80 - $107,120.00 per annum based on a 40 hour work week (requirement to work hours outside normal work schedule and be ‘on-call’)
