Emergency Services Coordinator – Job ID 10646
Reporting to the Director of Emergency Management, the incumbent will:
  • Implement assigned portions of the Regional emergency management program, by researching and reviewing best practices, developing, and producing comprehensive emergency plans and procedures
  • Implement operational preparedness and logistics for the Region's emergency centres as assigned
  • Implement elements of the Regional emergency management training and exercise program as assigned
  • Participate and be available as necessary to coordinate DEMO's emergency response, including acting as the DEMO Duty Officer on a 24/7 rotating basis, receiving and initiating emergency notifications, and setting up the Regional Emergency Operations Centre
  • Implement relevant portions of the Regional emergency management public education program as assigned
  • Assist in the development, production and implementation of all other aspects of the Regional emergency management program including legislative compliance and critical infrastructure elements
The successful candidate will possess:
  • A University degree combined with directly related emergency services/planning experience, or a post-secondary diploma with extensive directly related emergency services/planning experience
  • Emergency Management courses offered by DEMO, Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and Emergency Management, accredited Colleges or Universities, or recognized centres of learning, e.g., JIBC, FEMA
  • Practical working knowledge of emergency management organizations, plans, policies, procedures and standards
  • Demonstrated experience writing plans and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of training programs, including emergency simulation exercises
  • Proven experience in public education, public alerting, communications and media relations
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A valid 'G' driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
