Salary: $79,573 - $94,730 per annum (under review)

Reporting to the General Manager of Transportation and Operations Services this position shall provide direct supervision to all operations employees including the Transit Supervisors and administer the day to day operations of the Transit Department including scheduling and monitoring of routes. The Manager is also responsible for the day to day operations as guided by City policy and the decisions of Council.
Essential (minimum) Qualifications:
  • A University degree in Transportation Planning and/or Business Administration
  • Valid class "G" driver's license with clean driver’s abstract
Asset (preferred) Qualifications:
  • A thorough practical knowledge of public transit operations is required
  • A working knowledge of administrative policies and procedures directly related to public transit services
  • A working knowledge of municipal government operations is an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and legislation
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, CAD, other computerized response programs
  • Valid class "C" driver's license with “Z” endorsement
Essential (minimum) Qualifications:
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience as an Operations Manager in a Public Transit environment.
  • Five (5) years’ experience managing in a Unionized work environment
Asset (preferred) Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with Commissions or Advisory Committees
  • Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) with respect to public transit and the Highway Traffic Act
  • Experience in a municipal transit system
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, decision-making and public relations skills, with the capability to issue clearly understandable written and oral instructions.
